My own path…
I have experienced profound healing through the therapy services I have been fortunate to access throughout my life. I also recognize the ways that mental health and medical systems can be limiting. My career as a mental health therapist and educator has been built around this awareness. I have both experienced the impact and witnessed the impact of these systems on clients while working in community mental health, medical facilities, and educational systems.
The ever changing climate landscape is also a contributing factor to institutional restrictions in individualized care, limited resources, isolation from community, and more limited ways to cope. These socio-cultural and environmental factors have a direct impact on our ability to receive effective and/or satisfying treatment. Despair, anxiety and grief about the future of our community and planet serve as an undercurrent to already existing mental health challenges.
In my private practice, I have incorporated my own experience as well as others’ lived experiences to create an anti-oppressive healing space that integrates a holistic, individualized and person-centered mode of treatment. I provide support to clients who experience the impacts of life transitions, climate distress, racial oppression, sexism, and injustice due to marginalized identities with the goal of engaging in self discovery, increasing self trust, building meaningful purpose and values, and sparking connection beyond restrictions of our current circumstances. Connecting us closer to ourselves allows for our continued healing and growth in community.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT 52628). I received my Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. I been practicing in the field of mental health since 2004, and completed licensure in 2012. Over the last 15 years, I have held positions at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center and UCLA Counseling and Psychological Services providing triage, crisis management and outpatient services. Additionally, I have provided outpatient services for women, developmental therapy services for children and teens, served in clinical and supervisory roles in multiple community mental health organizations in Los Angeles, and worked as faculty in the psychology department at Santa Monica College and West Los Angeles College.
Modality
My modality of treatment is person-centered, holistic and individualized. The interventions I use are grounded in trauma resilience, mindfulness, cognitive interventions and psychoeducation. These treatment strategies have proven to be effective in working with symptoms of anxiety, depression and post traumatic stress. I strive for genuineness in our therapeutic relationship as I discover what will support you in having satisfying relationships inside and outside the therapy space. I provides a “come as you are” approach for collaboration. We all have inherent strengths and intuition that I encourage and work to enhance during treatment.
